Invisalign says check-ups are about every 6 to 8 weeks, to see how treatment is going and that the aligners fit well. With metal braces, the NHS says adjustments are also every 6 to 8 weeks.
Aligners are clear and removable, so they are harder to notice and you take them out to eat and brush. The trade-off is that they only work when worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, as Invisalign advises. Metal braces stay on all the time but are easier to see.
